Eagles Open Season with Win Over Phoenix

The Eagles began their league campaign with a 9-1 victory over the Phoenix, carrying momentum from a strong preseason into their first competitive outing.

After an encouraging run of results in warm-up fixtures, the Eagles arrived ready and well prepared. The opening period was competitive, with both sides testing each other without either taking full control. The Eagles edged ahead with two goals, while the Phoenix found a reply to keep it close. At the first intermission, the score stood at 2-1 to the Eagles.

The second period saw the Eagles build more consistently on that narrow lead. Their puck movement became sharper and they were able to sustain pressure in the offensive zone. The goals followed, and by the end of the middle frame the Eagles had extended their advantage to 5-1.

The Phoenix starting goaltender was unable to continue after the second period due to injury. Early in the third, in a commendable gesture, Richard Snow (#39) stepped in to take position in the Phoenix net, allowing the game to carry on.

The third period followed a similar pattern, with the Eagles maintaining their structure and adding to their tally while the Phoenix continued to compete. Ben Cowie (#29) recorded a hat trick with a composed performance in front of goal, while Kian Rogers (#71) was named Player of the Match for his influence across all three periods.

For the Eagles, it was a positive way to open the season and a continuation of the form shown during preseason. The Phoenix will look to regroup and move forward after a challenging first fixture.
